Cognitive Awareness Redirection Empowerment
Purpose: The purpose of the C.A.R.E Program is to provide youths and their families with specialized targeted services that offer the resources, skills and education required to function successfully in the school. We seek to promote academic enrichment by supporting the schools towards their academic goals for their students by means of addressing distractions with a focus on increasing cognitive awareness. This is done through learning appropriate coping and behavioral management skills to reduce risk for out of home placement, incarceration, expulsion, suspension, truancy, and poor academic performance.
Goals of the Program:
1. To change the manner in which a student behaves in school, at home and in the community by identifying and assessing the services most appropriate to meet the needs of the youth and family.
2. To develop self-esteem, discipline, self-confidence and leadership skills.
3. To enhance coping skills, anger management skills and acceptance of consequences for their behavior.
